Near South Side streets that allow night parking on both sides of the street during the spring, summer and fall returned to alternate side parking on Dec. 1. If your block does not have the “4 inch” rule, or a specific sign designating prohibited parking, then alternate side parking is back in effect. Save money by making sure your vehicle is on the proper side of the street.
In addition, many major streets throughout the city prohibit parking on either side of the street from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 1 through Feb. 28. This includes S. 13th St., S. 35th St., W. National Ave., W. Greenfield Ave., W. Lincoln Ave. and W. Mitchell St. You can find winter night parking rules for your block online.
Residents recently won the right to park on S. 6th St., S. 11th St. and S 16th St., where winter parking was previously prohibited.
