Penfield Children’s Center is getting involved with #GivingTuesday on December 3, a national celebration of generosity following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Started in 2012, #GivingTuesday is a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season.
As part of #GivingTuesday, Penfield has created the Up n’ Go Campaign in an effort to raise money to purchase an Up n’ Go toddler gait trainer. This piece of equipment helps build strength and balance for children who have difficulty walking independently. For children like Mario, who has a rare genetic disorder that causes contractures in his joints and prevents him from bending his arms and legs, a gait trainer may be their only opportunity to stand up and walk on their own. Visit Penfield’s fundraising page and watch Mario’s story here:
Because #GivingTuesday is a national celebration of generosity, it is a highly publicized event on social media. On December 3, Penfield will actively participate in the conversation on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #GivingTuesday to promote the campaign. “#GivingTuesday is a great opportunity for us to share our story with an engaged audience and raise funds to purchase an essential piece of medical equipment,” says Jason Parry, Vice President of Development and Communications at Penfield. “Online giving is among the fastest growing sources of philanthropic giving for agencies like ours; we are thrilled to be able to participate in this effort.”
You can get involved and promote the campaign on December 3 as well. Participate in conversations on Penfield’s Facebook page, share posts and pictures and retweet. Tell your friends and family about the campaign and help raise awareness of Penfield’s mission. Your support of this campaign will help more children, just like Mario, push beyond their limits, stand up, and walk.
