On May 17th thousands of Milwaukeeans will gather at the lakefront to support those affected by mental illness as part of the 2014 NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Walk. This 5K walk focuses on raising awareness and “stomping out the stigma” of mental illness. One in four adults suffers from mental illness, and it is an important issue that touches many of the individuals and families in our community. Our 2014 Walk will meet at Veterans Park on Sunday May 17th. Check in for the event starts at 9:30am and the walk will step off at 11:00am. There will be music, refreshments, and fun activities for children to enjoy. There will be free parking at the Milwaukee War Memorial for all participants. This event is free to the public, however donations are encouraged. All the proceeds from this event will fund NAMI’s free support and education programs for families and individuals living with mental illness. We hope to see you there!
