On Monday, Dec. 22, mothers and their children from Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Joy House homeless shelter celebrated the season with the one and only Santa Claus at Assurant Health’s headquarters. Nearly 60 family members celebrated the event, which marked the second year it was hosted by Assurant Health.
The children’s faces lit up as Saint Nick arrived with his jingle bells and jolly laugh. Each child had the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and receive a gift. Moms also received gifts on this special day. The gifts were purchased by Assurant Health employees through the Assurant Cares Giving Tree program. This year, Assurant Health employees donated a total of 310 gifts to benefit a number of local charities.
In addition to their gifts, our guests from Joy House enjoyed lunch and holiday cookies served by Assurant Health employees. The children also decorated gingerbread men cookies, participated in holiday crafts and played and danced with Santa.
Assurant Health organizes donation drives and employee volunteer events in support of Milwaukee Rescue Mission throughout the year. Recently, Assurant Health provided a $50,000 grant to Joy House through the Assurant Foundation.Did you like this story? Subscribe to NNS today.
