Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin wrapped up its Fifth Annual Food for the Holidays campaign. Feeding America and Associated Bank were on a million meal mission to provide one million meals to people struggling with hunger in eastern Wisconsin, and we are pleased to announce that we exceeded our goal and provided more than 1.9 million meals this holiday season.
Gifts of food and money were donated through various events and donation drives during November and December. “We would like to thank the many generous donors who helped make the holidays brighter for families struggling with hunger,” said Bonnie Bellehumeur, president of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
The holidays conjure up warm, cozy feelings about celebrations with family and friends; this usually includes time spent around the table enjoying a fulfilling meal. While this may be how many of us celebrated our holidays, the 377,000 people who rely on Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for food each year often turn to their local food pantry or soup kitchen for a holiday meal. Donations to the Food for the Holidays campaign helped ensure meals were available to people in need.
We would like to thank the sponsors of our Food for the Holidays campaign: Associated Bank, TODAY’S TMJ4, 620WTMJ and WFRV-Channel 5 News in Green Bay.
