Give thanks and pay it forward by volunteering. Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features a calendar full of events for volunteers, both one-time and ongoing. Here are a few of the opportunities in November.
Prison Toy Program
Package and wrap holiday gifts for children of incarcerated parents. Mornings or afternoons Nov. 14-18 at The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County Distribution Center near 60th Street and Silver Spring Drive.

Fresh Coast Classic College and Resource Fair
Greet, direct and hand out information to high school students from Milwaukee Public Schools or assist vendors at the college fair at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Nov. 19 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Centro Hispano Milwaukee needs volunteers to unload, sort and box non-perishable food items for economically challenged families, most from near south side of Milwaukee. Nov. 21 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Drumstick Dash 5K
Help raise funds for Feeding America that will help feed people throughout the holiday season and beyond. Register participants, hand out water, collect donated food or help on the racecourse. Nov. 26 from 6:30 a.m. to noon.
