In early 2016, fashion designer Kelvin Haydon expects to open KH Designs, a fashion boutique on West Fond Du Lac Avenue in Lindsay Heights.
Haydon, winner of the Start-Up/Scale-Up Business Plan Competition sponsored by the North Avenue Fond Du Lac Marketplace BID 32 last summer, was awarded assistance with rent and renovations at 2025-27 W. Fond Du Lac Ave., among other prizes.
Haydon’s shop will offer affordable high-fashion women’s clothing. Haydon attended Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) and earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College Chicago. He has worked for several Milwaukee clothing manufacturers and has designed clothing for men and women for 20 years, he said.
Alderman Russell Stamper said the business will help revitalize the neighborhood. “We have a lot of new economic development going on and now we have a fashion designer.”
