With a construction boom in Milwaukee that hasn’t been seen in decades, there are job opportunities for workers who possess the right kinds of skills and knowledge, and a key information session is set for Tuesday (June 28) for people looking to begin acquiring those skills, according to Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II.
Alderman Stamper said the Social Development Commission (SDC) will be holding special, multifaceted construction training classes starting in July, and the information session at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28 at 1730 W. North Ave. is a must for those who want to apply for the classes. Attendees must register for the session in advance, and can register online at www.cr-sdc.org or by calling 414-906-2711. With construction underway on the new $500 million downtown arena for the Bucks, as well as ongoing construction on the $450 million Northwestern Mutual Life headquarters building project, it is a prime time to get an excellent job for those with the right construction training, Alderman Stamper said.
“I believe we will be seeing additional major construction projects of all kinds in Milwaukee in the years ahead, so those who have the training and the skills will be positioned to have the best opportunities on these projects,” he said. “That’s why it is important to take advantage of the program next week at the SDC.”
Patricia Schaefer says
Hi my name is Patricia Schaefer. I live in the Enderis Park neighborhood. I was wondering if you could do a small training project on the side of my porch. there are small holes and they need to be filled. I am 63 and unable to do this. I think it would be a small project for them and they will be able to do learn from it.
