Milwaukee Public Library announces a new schedule of hours effective this week that will extend service at four branch locations including Atkinson (1960 W. Atkinson Ave.), Capitol (3969 N. 74th St.), Forest Home (1432 W. Forest Home Ave.) and Mill Road (6431 N. 76th St.).
Atkinson, Capitol and Forest Home branches will expand service from 5 days a week to 6 days a week, adding Fridays to the schedule. The hours on Fridays will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The first Friday will be August 12, 2016.
Mill Road will expand service from 5 days a week to 6 days a week, adding Saturdays to the schedule. The hours on Saturdays will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first Saturday will be August 13, 2016.
“Expanding our service hours is another way we are able to increase the services we provide to neighborhood residents,” said Library Director Paula Kiely. “We are working hard to improve access and remove barriers in the library so that we can advance our mission to help patrons read, learn and connect.”
The increase in hours is the result of a 2016 budget amendment passed by the Milwaukee Common Council that added six librarian positions to support the additional hours. For complete information on all MPL locations and hours of operation, please go to www.mpl.org.
