More than 28 outdoor-focused organizations participated in a working summit to kick – off Milwaukee’s community-wide effort to engage youth and adults on public lands on Monday December 12, 2016. The Summit was hosted by the Urban Ecology Center at Washington Park. Summit attendees discussed ways in which to celebrate outdoor recreation and to create a plan for further engagement and collaboration.
The Milwaukee YMCA is 1 of 50 YMCA’s across the nation that are participating in the Let’s Move! Outside Initiative in partnership with American Express, the National Park Service, and the US Department of the Interior.
Local steering committee agencies include: The Milwaukee YMCA, Urban Ecology Center, Milwaukee Recreation, Milwaukee County Parks, National Park Service, Walnut Way, Bureau of Land Management, and Schlitz Audubon Center.
