Habitat for Humanity recently sponsored its eighth annual Recycled Art Contest to raise funds for the organization. The artwork was displayed during the Historic Third Ward’s Gallery Night and Day at Habitat ReStore East, 420 S. 1st St., on April 21 and 22.
The contest challenged community members to create works of art or repurpose items using second-hand materials purchased at ReStore. Sixty-seven entries were submitted, a record number.
During the past 33 years, Milwaukee Habitat has served more than 1,000 families in the Greater Milwaukee community through new construction, rehab and repair programs and provided housing solutions for more than 1,500 families in developing countries.
