On May 12, Summerfest brought performing artist Jahmes Tony Finlayson to Penfield Children’s Center in honor of both Penfield and Summerfest’s 50thAnniversary celebrations.
Children aged 6 weeks to 6 years enjoyed learning about African drums, shakers and many other instruments. They also listened to songs that taught about African American history and danced while Jahmes played.
Penfield Children’s Center creates a positive start in life for infants and children, many of whom have developmental delays or disabilities, by providing early education, health services and family programming. Serving more than 1,500 children annually, Penfield delivers research-based programs at the critical time of early brain development when physical, cognitive, language, social, and self-help skills are formed.
Throughout 2017, Penfield will be hosting a variety of events to celebrate 50 years of serving Milwaukee’s most vulnerable children.
Thank you for your continued support of our children and families at Penfield Children’s Center!
