At a rally on August 10th, Ryan Braun celebrated SHARP Literacy students and their academic accomplishments at the conclusion of SHARP’s eight-week Summer Learning Gain Initiative, which involved approximately 300 students at eight locations throughout the city of Milwaukee including Browning Elementary, COA Youth & Family Center, Journey House, Kluge Elementary, Milwaukee Christian Center, Neighborhood House, Neu-Life Community Development, Our Next Generation and Thurston Woods Elementary.
At the outdoor rally at Browning Elementary School, Braun addressed 150 students from Silver Spring Neighborhood Center’s Browning and Thurston Woods Elementary Schools about SHARP Literacy’s summer program and congratulated them on their academic successes over the past eight weeks. Kids then participate in a variety of baseball-themed activities, enjoyed ice cream from the Brewers Treat Truck, and met the Famous Racing Sausages TM.
SHARP Literacy partnered with Ryan Braun and Brewers Community Foundation to promote the Summer Learning Gain Initiative, a SHARP educational program that uses summer break to support academic success by helping urban school students catch up on previous learning loss and make strides toward exceeding academic expectations the following year.
