Suffering from the winter blahs? There’s nothing better than a warm heart to help you through a cold winter. Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features a calendar full of events for volunteers, both one-time and ongoing. Here are a few of the opportunities in February.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Decorate, register guests, check coats, assist in dining room or photo booth for Milwaukee Recreation’s Daddy Daughter Dance at MPS North Division High School Saturday, Feb. 17; 4-8:30 p.m.

Tutor for Adult Education Students

Provide one-on-one GED tutoring to adults Monday-Wednesday, mornings or afternoons at Next Door.

Receptionist/Office Assistant

Answer telephones, screen calls and schedule appointments Tuesdays or Wednesdays at Holton Street Clinic; must have computer experience.

ABC’S & Me Tutor

Assist K4 and K5 students learn the alphabet by tracing and learning the sounds of letters weekdays at Milwaukee Academy Of Science.

Feed the Homeless and Hungry

Prepare and serve breakfast Monday-Friday 7-10 a.m. (individuals and groups) and/or lunch Saturdays 9:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (volunteer groups of 10-25) for The Gathering; various locations.

Recovery Night Dinner

Groups are needed to provide and serve a meal for clients and their families to celebrate their substance abuse recovery at Meta House Thursday, Feb. 15.

Milwaukee’s Best Bloody Fundraiser

Register guests, keep bars supplied, assist in VIP room and sell raffle tickets Sunday, Feb. 25 at Italian Community Center for Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation.
