On Saturday, April 21st the 13th annual America SCORES Milwaukee SCORES CUP featured 20 adult teams that played in a fun and friendly indoor soccer tournament at Uihlein Soccer Park (7101 W. Good Hope Road) to support Milwaukee’s underserved children.
The unique tournament, that hosted 300 players and 150 spectators, raised $50,000 through team sponsorship, individual fundraising and in-kind donations. One hundred percent of the funds raised are being allocated to the program’s youth-based soccer, academic, service-learning and social-emotional learning initiatives.
“SCORES Cup is a wonderful opportunity for local businesses and corporations to come together as teams to support a youth development program that builds future community leaders,” said Kate Carpenter, America SCORES Milwaukee Executive Director. “The money raised at this event affords the organization opportunities for growth and sustainability, which allow us to meet the needs of hundreds of students each year throughout Milwaukee who need access to safe and engaging places to learn and play after school.”
Corporate sponsored teams that played in the tournament included Baird, Briggs & Stratton, Crescendo Collective, Empower Retirement, Fiduciary Management Inc., Foley & Lardner LLP, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Johnson Controls, Meijer, MGS Mfg., Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, Northwestern Mutual Foundation, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Quarles & Brady LLP, Sobelman’s Pub & Grill, Superior Die Set, ULINE, and WaterStone Bank.
