For 10 years, Moody Pool has remained an empty, boarded-up neighborhood nuisance, but the building will be torn down soon. In its place, a splash pool, small community building, lit basketball courts and parkways are among the planned amenities. Some neighborhood residents contend they were promised something that was never delivered.
African American teens participating in a new training program for young farmers will be selling produce at the Fondy Farmers Market each Saturday through Nov. 17. “Growing Food, Growing Jobs,” is a partnership of Fondy Food Center, Milwaukee County Cooperative Extension Youth Development Program, and Alice’s Garden.
NOVA High School students recently visited the Jewish Museum Milwaukee to learn how to lead guided tours. The students are creating an exhibit on the Milwaukee civil rights movement in collaboration with Arts@Large, a program that provides arts experiences for Milwaukee Public School students.
