About 70 community members, parents and staff from Hopkins Street School succeeded in swaying an MPS board committee to locate a proposed community school at Hopkins rather than nearby Lloyd Street School. The final decision is in the hands of the full school board, which is expected to vote on the matter on March 31.
Community members, teachers and religious leaders are mobilizing to protest the possible closing of Hopkins Street School in Lindsay Heights at the Milwaukee Public School’s Accountability, Finance and Personnel Committee hearing Tuesday. MPS has proposed merging Hopkins and Lloyd Street School at the Lloyd Street site.
Beginning this spring, Fondy Food Center will have a new source of fresh fruits and vegetables — its own 80-acre farm. Fondy is negotiating a lease with Afterglow Farms for the property, located in Port Washington, Wis., as part of Fondy Food Center’s expansion plan.
