New UW med school program inspires grads to pursue urban medicine
A new training program in urban medicine offered by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health sent a medical student to the Bread of Healing Clinic in Lindsay Heights and another to the Sixteenth Street Community Health Center in Clarke Square last year. Now the two students have chosen to complete their three-year residencies in Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods.

Menomonee Valley Branch of Urban Ecology Center breaks ground
A new satellite facility of the Urban Ecology Center, to be built on the site of an old tavern on the 3700 block of W. Pierce Street, will offer neighborhood schoolchildren and residents a place to learn about the environment. On a recent weekday, dignitaries, children and local residents gathered for the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Urban Ecology Center’s (UEC) Menomonee Valley Branch.
