Historic Concordia’s Tour of Homes is one of the most popular in the state. It showcases Victorian homes of Milwaukee’s famous residents and in-process historic restoration projects. Tour goers will learn our history and meet our neighbors while enjoying entertainment.
This year the Tour showcases eight homes, two churches and an art gallery. The Tour’s most distinctive homes include the Schlitz Mansion at 2004 W Highland Avenue, the Tower House at 3011 W State Street, and UWM’s Design Box Gallery “Pop up” at 753 N. 27th Street.
The theme of this year’s tour is “Bringing the Past to Life”. In addition to touring historic homes, our guests will experience a Victorian afternoon on the lawn of the Tower House. The day will include Civil War reenactments with Company F, 29thInfantry U.S.C.T and Company K, 2nd Wisconsin Infantry plus an Encampment with the Marquette High School History Department. The West Side Victorian Dancers will perform and Friends of the Tower house will play “Victorian style” croquet. The event also includes a silent auction and cake-and-pie social.
The Historic Concordia Annual Tour of Home serves to build awareness of our neighborhood, promotes home ownership within the area, and develops interest in the area’s revitalization. Proceeds from the event benefit Historic Concordia Neighbors Inc., a registered nonprofit neighborhood association.
