Artistic collaboration was the theme of a multi-artist gallery exhibit, Slow Start, Long Beginnings, on display at Walker’s Point Center for the Arts (WPCA) earlier this month.

The artists—Karin Haas, Jessica Steeber and Cassandra Smith—wanted to “create a dialogue around real and artificial environments.”

The pieces in the exhibition were made specifically for WPCA’s space. Gary Tuma, executive director of WPCA, noted, “We like to do site-specific installations.”

WPCA selects four art proposals for exhibition every year. “We seldom do a solo exhibition,” noted Tuma.

The artists also presented 55 drawings in a second gallery. Each artist participated in creating every piece. “You don’t know which woman did what,” Tuma said, “but they all worked on them together.”

For information about current and future exhibitions at Walker’s Point Center for the Arts, visit the center’s website.
