To help local residents in need, BMO Harris Bank is contributing $50,000 to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. The donation will help Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin meet a 33 percent increase in demand for food at a time — after the holidays — when charitable giving declines.
“The stark reality is that hunger is a year-round problem, not just an issue during the holidays when charitable giving is top-of-mind,” said Bonnie Bellehumeur, president and chief executive officer of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, in a press release.
BMO Harris Bank has an annual holiday display in its downtown lobby, and committed to give $5 to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for each visitor to the display in 2012. The donation represents 10,000 visitors to the locomotive-themed display, “Holiday Junction,” and will allow Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin to fund 250,000 pounds of food for food pantries, meal programs, and shelters in Wisconsin.
