Throughout spring, the Auer Avenue News Team learned how to find stories in their community. In particular, we used cameras and photographs to explore the world around us. We went on several walks around our school, our block and our Amani neighborhood with community partners, including Dennis Walton from Amani United and Tunisia Sims, a Community Health Navigator at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
In these photos, students picked images they wanted to share with the public, then answered the questions:
- What do you see?
- Why is this something that’s important to you and the community?
All photos were taken by Auer Avenue students.
And look out for more from the Auer Avenue News Team moving forward. We have big plans!
Auer Avenue News Team Mission
The Auer Avenue News Team is a group of Auer Avenue students that express themselves to their school, neighborhood, and city. We take pictures, write stories based on our community, and show that there’s more to our community than what it seems. We believe in the potential of students at Auer Avenue as we work to be the best and most connected community school in the city.Did you like this story? Subscribe to NNS today.
