“Gospel music is a living, breathing tradition in Milwaukee, and is sung with beautiful conviction by groups young and old. It will stir and inspire, and more than likely warm you on a cold winter day,” said John Sieger, a Milwaukee songwriter and musician who is also one of the concert organizers. “Luckily for those of us outside the community where it’s traditionally performed, we can celebrate this genre of music at the annual Milwaukee Gospel Jubilee; you really shouldn’t miss any chance to experience the lift it is certain to give you.”
The Milwaukee Gospel Jubilee will feature six local gospel groups ranging in musical styling. They include: New Gospel Five, Levi Gospel Singers, Holy Hill Ensemble, Voices of Faith and The Milwaukee Community Quartet. An exciting new partnership with Skylight Music Theatre will also bring a select group from the cast of their upcoming production of Crowns: A Gospel Musical to the Jubilee stage in anticipation of the musical’s opening in March 2016.
The Jubilee is made possible through generous support from the following sponsors: Froedtert Health & the Medical College of Wisconsin, Aurora Health Care, Colectivo Coffee, Kapco, John Shannon and Jan Serr, Black Shoe Hospitality/Maxie’s, BMO Harris Bank, HGA Architects and Engineers, Hunzinger Construction, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.
Tickets for the Milwaukee Gospel Jubilee are being sold for $20 and can be purchased through the Pabst Theater ticket office, online at pabsttheater.org or by calling the box office at (414) 286-3663.
Join Progressive Community Health Centers at Colectivo’s Prospect Café (2211 N. Prospect Avenue) on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 11am to 1pm for a free, live Gospel Brunch event to enjoy sneak peek performances of Milwaukee’s top gospel groups.
