Near West Side Partners, Inc. (NWSP) recently held an open house bus tour to show homes for sale in Near West Side neighborhoods. NWSP Executive Director Keith Stanley, Historic Concordia resident Brian Scotty and local realtor Al Frankenberger led the tour.
The homes for sale shown on the tour are located at 330 N. 42nd St. in the Valley Park neighborhood; 4284 W. Highland Blvd. in Martin Drive; and 2844 W. Kilbourn Ave. and 2938 W. State St., both in the Historic Concordia neighborhood.
The tour also stopped at the home of Patrick Kennelly, director of the Center for Peacemaking at Marquette University and a resident of the Historic Concordia neighborhood.
Before the tour, Alderman Robert Bauman spoke about housing opportunities and the community in the Near West Side.
“You have some real history with high-quality housing stock,” Bauman said of the Near West Side neighborhoods.
Thanks to all that contributed their time and effort to organize the tour: Darrian, Keith, Dan, Al, John Hennessey & Tina Klose! The best part of the tour, I think, was the impromptu neighborhood meeting on State St. where several neighbors joined the tour and discussed the advantages of living in the area. Also, thanks to Dave gross, a neighborhood resident, who added a bonus home on the tour.
The Valley area neighborhood is a beautiful neighborhood. Many committed residents. The access to the freeway, downtown, bike trails, Miller Brewery, Miller Stadium, many stores and the view at the Valley Park are all great reasons to live there. It’s a safe neighborhood and the neighbors are respectful and friendly. I miss living there.
