Neighbors from Amani, Metcalfe Park, Sherman Park, Washington Park, Lindsay Heights and Walnut Hill gathered together recently for food, activities and entertainment at an event called “Arms Around Us.”

Also at the event, public officials such as Ald. Russell W. Stamper II spoke about change in the neighborhoods.

“We need to unify and report any criminal or suspicious activity,” Stamper said. “Stay vigilant for the community.”

Victor Barnett, 13, using his stage name of Little Vic, performed at the event.

His mother, Dawn Barnett, co-founder of the Running Rebels youth group with her husband, Victor Barnett, said that the event is a great way to bring the community together.
