The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee announces the deadline to recognize the area’s most dedicated volunteers through the 35th Annual Inspire by Example Awards.

Nominations are now being accepted. The six categories are individual awards for a youth, adult, and team of volunteers; a Business Excellence Award to a local firm for exceptional efforts in supporting employee volunteerism; a Wile Volunteer Management Award to a professional volunteer manager, and the Fran Swigart Board Leadership Award to an outstanding nonprofit board director.

Award winners designate a $500 gift to the agency they support through their volunteer efforts. Winners will be honored at the Volunteer Celebration luncheon April 19th to kick off National Volunteer Week.

“Each year these awards showcase outstanding volunteers who help our community in countless ways,” said Corporate and Events Manager Debbie Knepke. “It is not only about those who put in untold time and energy, but also about the unique and innovative contributions of short-term project volunteers and others who have a profound impact on the community.”

Past winner accomplishments range from – a nonprofit board member who worked to enrich the lives of those with physical and mental disabilities; a seasoned volunteer who transcribed text into Braille material utilized by blind youth; a community-minded business which rehabs neighborhood schools; and a teen who teaches her peers in subjects ranging from racial injustice to overcoming poverty!

Selections are based on the nominees’ efforts, volunteer accomplishments, community impact and enhancement of the lives of others. This is an opportunity to tell their inspiring stories.

Nomination forms may be downloaded from npcmilwaukee.org until the February 3rd nomination deadline. For more information about the awards or nomination process, call 414.269-8576.

The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee is a catalyst promoting the interests and enhancing the effectiveness of the nonprofit sector in southeast Wisconsin.
