Washington High School of Information Technology is celebrating two teams that will advance to state championships this year – the boys’ basketball team and the chess team. The school will hold a pep rally on March 16 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

During the event, players from both teams will be introduced and cheerleaders will perform. Students attending the rally will have a chance to compete in contests that include free throws, half-court shots and skills challenges.

The boys’ basketball team will compete for the Division 2 title at the Kohl Center in Madison on Saturday, March 18. The chess team will travel to UW-Oshkosh to face its challengers on March 18 and 19.

Washington High School is located at 2525 N. Sherman Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53210.

Competitive athletic and academic teams are part of the MPS Eight Big Ideas: Rethink High Schools strategy to promote student achievement.
