The Workbench will host their first Mini-Workshop Market on October 15, 2022, from noon-4 p.m. at the Wheelhouse MKE located at 3373 N Holton St. There will be a $5 cover fee for all attendees or a $15 cover fee for all 21+ attendees who want drinks included.
The event will be set up for guests to stop by multiple booths where vendors will be teaching 15-minute workshops. At each workshop, guests will create a small craft or learn a few skills. The intention is to pique interest in a new skill in a low-pressure environment. If they find they enjoy the activity, they have the opportunity to sign up for a future in-depth class about the subject.
The Workbench is a local organization focused on building a community around all aspects of wellness. This broad term can include not only physical or mental, but also social, creative, spiritual, and nutritional wellness. The goal of the Workbench is to help people find what aspects of wellness best suit them to help improve their lives and their communities. Throughout 2022, the Workbench has created and run events such as Clip’s Plant Market, and the Milwaukee Wellness Market. However, this is the first event they will be running focused on allowing customers to use their hands and try something new.
“Our goal for the organization is to offer more workshops like these,” said Maddy Day, founder of the Workbench. “We want people to try something they’ve never done before, and to not worry about failing. The Workbench is still a very young organization, but we intend to build a business around making people feel well.”
The event’s location, The Wheelhouse MKE, is a carpentry studio collaborative on the borders of Milwaukee’s Harambee, Riverworks and Riverwest neighborhoods. The space holds studio spaces for carpenters and crafters just entering the field who may not be able to afford all of the necessary equipment to succeed.
