Civil rights groups file lawsuit against state for abuse of imprisoned children
The ACLU of Wisconsin and Juvenile Law Center, with pro-bono assistance from Quarles & Brady, filed a class action lawsuit last night in federal court against four Wisconsin state officials, including Wisconsin Secretary of Corrections Jon E. Litscher, citing the unconstitutional use of solitary confinement and inhumane conditions for youth in state-run correctional facilities.

Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA) program begins free tax preparation
Thousands of Milwaukee County residents rely on the Social Development Commission’s (SDC) operation of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which provides free preparation of state and federal taxes. The Social Development Commission is the lead agency and largest preparer of taxes for the county’s VITA program. SDC will offer tax preparation is available January 23 through April 18, 2017
