12th annual Henry W. Maier Sate of Milwaukee Summit addresses immigration

UWM’s Urban Studies program has partnered with Voces de la Frontera, the ACLU of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition and the Refugee Resettlement Program of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan for “Immigration and the City in the Trump Era: Immigrant Rights, Advocacy, and Communities in Milwaukee.”
This 2018 Milwaukee Summit will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 5:30 p.m. in the UWM Student Union Fireside Lounge. Panelists will discuss different facets of immigration policy, immigrant rights movements and refugee resettlement experiences in Milwaukee, along with advocacy efforts and examples of success.
The panelists are:
  • Rachel Buff, UWM Department of History & Cultures and Communities Program
  • Mary Flynn, program manager of refugee resettlement for Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan
  • Janan Najeeb, president, Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition
  • Christine Neumann-Ortiz, executive director, Voces de la Fronter
  • Karyn Rotker, senior staff attorney, ACLU of Wisconsin
