Bringing Native History to Wisconsin Classrooms

Dr. J P Leary (UW-Greenbay) will present a public talk on November 13 on a groundbreaking Wisconsin educational statute that confronts racism and help Wisconsin Native communities live out their sovereignty unhindered. The talk will also feature a special opening and closing ceremony with Milwaukee’s Indian Community School Youth Drum and will finish with a book-signing and reception.
 
The event is sponsored by Marquette University’s Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Public Affairs, Raynor Memorial Libraries, and the Native American Student Association. It will take place Tuesday, Nov. 13, 4:30-6:30 p.m., in Raynor Memorial Libraries’ Beaumier Suites. It is free and open to Marquette and Milwaukee community, but RSVP is required.
