  • Agape Community Center hosted recent a Bloom and Groom event.

The City of Milwaukee and its Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation coordinated the sale and distribution of nearly 50,000 flowers to residents in 18 neighborhoods over two recent weekends. The purpose is to both beautify neighborhoods with flowers planted at homes, and to build community.

The city worked with Lowe’s Home Improvement to obtain the flowers at minimal cost.

Some of the neighborhoods participating in “Bloom and Groom” are part of the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative, a partnership between city government and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation that promotes positive activity in nine Milwaukee neighborhoods. Other neighborhoods independently joined “Bloom and Groom.”
