The Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service has won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award, from RTDNA (Radio Television Digital News Association). The news service won in the “Online News Operation – Non-Broadcast Affiliated Website” category.

According to the RTDNA website, “Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.” News organizations from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin competed for the Region 4 awards. Awards were presented in 14 categories, broken up by medium (radio, television, online) and by market size (small and large).

“We are delighted and honored to receive such a prestigious award,” said Editor and Project Director Sharon McGowan. “It is a tribute to the hard work of our staff, interns and volunteers, and to the people and organizations whose stories we tell.”
