A free Milwaukee Foreclosure Prevention Event, sponsored by the City of Milwaukee and Take Root Milwaukee will take place on Thursday, 7/25. Help is available from 1:00 to 7:00 PM (first come, first serve). The event will take place at the Bruce Guadalupe Middle School, conveniently located at 920 S. 9th Street, on Milwaukee’s near south side.
Who should attend this FREE event? Homeowners in financial distress – whether they are already in foreclosure or just worried about what may happen in the future.
What can homeowners expect to happen if they attend? Homeowners will have the opportunity to meet with a housing counselor who will listen to their story and then help the borrower understand what their options are, the timing for the process, and what to expect when they meet with their loan servicer (the people who process payments and service their mortgage). Then, the homeowner will have a face-to-face meeting with their servicer. Some borrowers will leave the event with a loan modification. Others will leave with an understanding of what they need to do to get a loan modification or the process necessary to save their home in another way. The housing counselors will assist borrowers any necessary follow up steps.
Do homeowners need to pre-register for this event? No pre-registration or RSVP is necessary for this FREE event, but homeowners will be seen on a first come, first served basis. The doors open at 1:00 PM, and the last homeowner will be assisted at 6:45 PM.
Where is this place? The Bruce Guadalupe Middle School is on the NE corner of 9th and Mineral, kitty corner from Walker Square Park.
