A program that is identifying and fixing up homes contaminated by lead reached out to neighbors of a Milwaukee Community.
The Lead Hazard Reduction Assistance Program at the Social Development Commission (SDC) took part this past Saturday in the Southside Organizing Committee’s Spring Maintenance and Home Improvement Fair. The daylong event was held at St. Anthony’s Keyser Hall on S. 9th Street.
Staff from the SDC Lead program explained to the many attending residents how the effort works as well as how to participate in it. The program is identifying and renovating homes that have a high risk for lead poisoning and which have young children living in them. Lead poisoning of children can occur when living in older homes that contain lead-based paints. It has been shown to cause learning, behavioral, growth and health problems, especially in children.

And I was told by Liberty Mutal that my siding was cracked I don’t think so but anyway the canceled me I need to find home insurance for my house. I am 62 years old and don’t have any one to fix these things, I put a new roof on the house and am still paying for it. That cost was 12,000.00. Now I really need help in finding a insurance co. that I can have that will take my house as it is till I can get it fixed. I have always paid my mortgage and insurance and taxes on time. I just don’t understand and it is not fair. Thank you for listening and please tell me what I can do.
