The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee welcomes Robert Meiksins as its new Chief Executive Officer. His first day serving as CEO will be September 1, 2015.

Meiksins comes to the organization after more than seven years as the owner of Forward Steps Consulting, where he has assisted Milwaukee-area nonprofits in achieving their missions through organizational development, including governance consulting, fund development, and strategic planning.

Meiksins’ past roles included serving as senior consultant at the McDonald Schaefer Group, a resource development consulting firm specializing in capital campaign design and management.

He served as grants coordinator for Forward Community Investments, which invests in, connects, and advises organizations and initiatives that reduce social, racial, and economic disparities in Wisconsin communities.

Meiksins also served BoardStar as its board placement coordinator, connecting qualified candidates with boards in the nonprofit sector as well as developing and delivering workshops on governance and consulting to those boards.

For seven years, he served as executive director of Future Milwaukee, the Milwaukee area’s oldest and most active leadership development program, with a mission to identify, develop, place and support diverse community leaders.

“The nonprofit sector is an incredibly important part of the quality of life in Milwaukee and the Nonprofit Center has helped nonprofits succeed for decades,” says Meiksins. “I am very excited for the opportunity to build on the Nonprofit Center’s legacy as it faces new challenges.”

“We are pleased to welcome Rob into the senior staff leadership role of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee,” says Josh Bierbach, president of the organization’s board of directors. “His experience developing and serving Milwaukee-area nonprofits will be a boon to the organizations in our community and to the nonprofit sector as a whole.”
