The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) announces traffic and parking changes for a city-wide marathon and half-marathon on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Both races begin at 7:00 a.m. at the Summerfest Grounds.
The 26.2 mile marathon will wind through all parts of Milwaukee – north, south, east and west – visiting many neighborhoods across eight (8) aldermanic districts.
All streets along the route will be closed to traffic and parking during the races. Residents, businesses, churches and all other organizations with driveways on the route should be aware that access during the races will be limited – make your travel and parking plans accordingly.
Drivers/parkers: Be especially aware of temporary parking restrictions along the routes. “NO PARKING – TOW AWAY ZONE” signs will be posted with information as to when parking will be restricted. Vehicles must be moved off the routes to ensure the safety of all participants.
All vehicles parked on the marathon and half-marathon routes will be ticketed and towed.
In the event that a vehicle is towed, the City Tow Lot will be open 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Sunday, November 1 for vehicle retrieval.
Milwaukee County Transit System riders should expect detours on the approximately 20 bus routes directly affected by the races, as well as delays system-wide on Sunday. For more information on alternative routes, stops, and detours, please check www.ridemcts.com.
