Blanket drive provides promise of warmth in colder weather

WHAT: The Blanketing Greater Milwaukee blanket drive is collecting new and gently used blankets and sleeping bags that will be distributed to homeless shelters and community agencies throughout the greater Milwaukee area.

WHEN: The drive runs through January 31, 2016.

DROP OFF LOCATIONS:

  • Milwaukee Area Labor Council633 South Hawley Road – Suite 110
  • United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County 225 W Vine St, Milwaukee
    OR
    1717 Paramount Drive, Waukesha
  • Any City of Milwaukee Firehouse

WHO: United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County and the AFL-CIO Community Services of the Milwaukee Area Labor

Council are collecting blankets and sleeping bags for local shelters and non-profit agencies who serve those experiencing homelessness either in a shelter setting or street outreach.

Last year over 250 blankets were collected. The drive this year was expanded to include sleeping bags to ensure those who are unable to access shelters are provided with a sleeping bag to stay safe in dangerous cold weather conditions.
