Wanda Montgomery has accepted the role of co-chair, alongside Mayor Tom Barrett, for the Milwaukee Lifecourse Initiative for Healthy Families (LIHF). The initiative is dedicated to reducing racial disparities in birth outcomes in the city of Milwaukee.

“Wanda brings a wealth of leadership, experience, and dedication to serving Milwaukee families,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “I am proud to have Wanda stand alongside me as we continue the communitywide work to reduce racial disparities in birth outcomes and prevent infant mortality.”

Montgomery’s career has been spent serving the community as Director of Community Partnerships for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin; CEO of Children’s Family and Community Partnerships; Project Manager for MAXIMUS, Executive Director of Gray’s Child Development Center, Inc., Preparatory Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Executive Director of Neighborhood Housing Services.

“I am passionate about LIHF because to have any child die due to the lack of access, advocacy, education or resources in 2016 is unacceptable,” Montgomery stated.  “Whatever I can do to bring information to the masses is important to me and the work I’ve committed my life to.”

Montgomery takes over as co-chair for Shirley McFarlane of Northwestern Mutual who has served as co-chair for the past two years.
