Century City I opens its doors to community and potential investors

A stretch of West Hopkins Street adjacent to the Century City Business Park is currently under construction.
The building is 53,160-square-feet and may be divided, depending on future use.
The rear of the building features six docks and six drive-in garage doors.
Behind the building is the 30th Street Industrial Corridor's rail yard.
The A.O. Smith research center can be seen through the windows of Century City I.
Since many companies left the area in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, unemployment in the area has been high.
Open house attendees included Mayor Tom Barrett, Commissioner for the Department of City Development Rocky Marcoux, Commissioner for the Department of Public Works Ghassan Korban, Alderman WIllie Wade, Alderman Khalif Rainey, and others.
During the event presentations were given by Rocky Marcoux, Alan Perlstein, CEO and Executive Director of the Mid-West Energy Research Consortium, and Michael Weiss, President of General Capital Group.
Century City I is cater-cornered to Hope Christian School: Semper.

Occupying a long-vacant parcel in the heart of the 30^th Street Industrial Corridor, the recently constructed Century City I opened its doors to community members, elected officials and potential investors Thursday. Developed by General Capital in partnership with the City of Milwaukee, the 53,160-square-foot industrial building is available for lease.

The building is located on the former A.O. Smith/Tower Automotive site and is part of a more than $40 million investment by the City of Milwaukee to create the 86-acre Century City business park. Developers hope the multi-phase project attracts advanced manufacturing companies and new jobs to the area.
