The South Side’s Garden District will once again play host to the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works compost bin and rain barrel sale, and Alderman Terry L. Witkowski said interested residents should make plans to attend because the event will be moved to another part of the city next year.

“After hosting the Compost Bin and Rain Barrel Sale last year and this year, I guess we in the Garden District have to let someone else have a turn,” Alderman Witkowski said. “Nonetheless, this is a great opportunity for residents from all over the area to get a good bargain on tools to help them go green around their own homes and yards.”

The sale will take place on Saturday, June 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Wilson Recreation Senior Center parking lot, 2601 W. Howard Ave. The event will take place rain or shine, and is not restricted to City of Milwaukee residents.

A limited number of FreeGarden EARTH compost bins and FreeGarden rain barrels will be available for $50 and $60, respectively. Kitchen scrap pails ($5), compost aerators ($10), and compost thermometers ($10) also will be available for purchase. Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
