UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Wisconsin partnered with community organizations to host a Community Block Party at the Brown Street Academy in Milwaukee on Saturday, September 10th. Participating community organizations included Employ Milwaukee, Milwaukee Health Services and Progressive Health Center. Covering Wisconsin also provided enrollment assistance and literacy stations through the Brown Street Academy.

Activities included a yoga instructor leading classes, juicing and cooking demonstrations, and a raffle. Barbers provided free haircuts for boys from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Blood Center of Wisconsin provided $10 Pick-n-Save gift cards to those who donated blood. The goal of the Community Block Party was to help improve community health by connecting people to available employment, education, and health and wellness resources.

The event took place at Brown Street Academy:
2029 N. 20th Street
Milwaukee, Wis. 53205
