The Walker’s Point Center for the Arts, 839 S. 5th St., kicked off its annual Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration with a reception featuring Mexican treats and a folk dance performance by Instituto Cultural de Danza de Manuel Gaona.
Dia de los Muertos, on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, pays tribute to loved ones who have passed away. Colorful ofrendas are decorated with traditional items such as sugar skulls and flowers, as well as personal items important to the people who are being remembered. The theme this year is “peace and unity.”
