This summer will mark the grand opening of a school that looks to increase expectations and change the way we educate our children. Augustine Prep is a new, $85 million, K4-12 Christian school coming to Milwaukee’s south side that will center on four pillars of faith, family, academics and athletics. As a premier Milwaukee choice school, Augustine Prep will not only offer students individualized learning in the classroom and in subject-specific learning pods throughout the school, but will also offer state-of-the-art facilities for extracurriculars when it opens in August 2017. Highlights of the 12-acre campus on 6th Street include:

  • STEM labs
  • Flexible classroom spaces
  • A health clinic
  • A natatorium with an Olympic size swimming pool
  • A gymnasium with three full length sports courts
  • An expansive performing arts stage
  • A multi-purpose, expansive field for soccer and track and field

Augustine Prep’s superintendent, Alfonso Carmona, left an elementary principal position in Chicago Public Schools to lead the new school. Carmona is a native of a poor village in Columbia, who played professional basketball there before moving to the U.S. not knowing English. Education opened doors for him, which is why he believes so strongly in its power it has to transform lives.
