Every year on June 20, the United Nations and countless civic groups around the world celebrate World Refugee Day to honor those who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution.

For the fifth time, the Milwaukee Area Refugee Consortium hosted the World Refugee Day celebration at Pere Marquette Park. The event featured cultural performance, activities, music and guest speakers of multiple backgrounds.

Attendees ate food from different cultures, enjoyed the music and mingled with their neighbors from around the world.
