- Deconstruction work began as the America's Black Holocaust Museum prepares to return to its former site in a new building.
- A mural depicting the history of UMOS was dedicated on 1st Street and Mitchell, created by lead artist Raoul Deal and a team of UW-Milwaukee students and high school interns from Artworks for Milwaukee.
- A new sculpture — a project of Artists Working in Education, lead artist Mikal Floyd-Pruitt and youth program Our Next Generation — had its debut in the spring. It is located next to Amaranth Cafe.
- The Sun Fair had another bustling year on Mitchell Street.
- New Zenon Castillo vs. Goya Sazon mural, "Guardians of Graffiti Culture" on 14th & Vliet, part of the Visual Warfare 2017 series.
