Regardless of your skills and interests, there are opportunities for you to help out in your community. Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features a calendar full of events for volunteers, both one-time and ongoing. Here are a few of the opportunities in October.
Clothing Bank Coordinator
Organize and oversee weekly Clothing Bank, which includes sorting, separating, washing, folding and hanging clothes; also assist individuals shop and find clothing; weekdays and Saturdays for Repairers of the Breach.

Children’s Vision Screener
Screen preschool children’s vision in Milwaukee area preschools, day care centers and private elementary schools, weekday mornings. Prevent Blindness Wisconsin provides training and certification on Oct. 24, 10 a.m.-noon.

Help refugee children grades 1-12 with homework and reading as they learn to be more fluent in English for SEA Literacy. Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Help the Park People Of Milwaukee County cut down invasive trees and shrubs in various Milwaukee County parks. Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon between Sept. 30 and Nov. 18.
