Kimberly Hillard, 20, works at the Grand Avenue Mall and has numerous “side hustles.” She looks forward to the day when she can move out of her parents’ home and dreams of being an environmental scientist. Hillard wishes more people would value what’s around them.

    Whoa Kimberly, I am so sorry you feel that way.

    There are people who care…..small example: all the people at the Domes meeting to fight the parking meters in the parks…..there were MPS teachers who got up there and spoke with passion about protecting free access to the parks for all people…..

    I am really sorry that you feel this bad. We all need to pay attention and VOTE…..

    If we have no other voice, at least we can use the ballot box, {even though our votes are not always as valuable as they could be due to excessive gerrymandering….}
    I am sorry you feel so bad, but appreciate your honesty.

    At the risk of sounding preachy, I am going to counter your “DOMINO” with a favorite quote of mine re: “RIPPLES:”

    “Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”

    I hope you meet someone today who gives you some hope. all my best….

      I am the most powerful person in the country when I have my ballot in my hand.
      There are thousands of people and millions of dollars that have been focused on me and this moment.
      This is the moment when I have the ability to change my neighborhood, my schools, my state and my country.
      Practice democracy.

      Hey Mary! Thanks so much for sharing the piece of info regarding free parking spaces for the public. Im glad people are using their voice not only for themselves but for others who are hindered that privilage.

      I know there’s people like me who are extremely pasionste about the planet we live on because its the only thing we have! Venturing out ro other planets is great, but there isn’t enough peiple who are willing to accepr rhe fact that the president has failed us profoundly. He’s so focused on giving the public alternative thats conpletely counterproductive to the point where scientists and others who are apart of the EPA are denying what’s crucial to our survival other living organisms.

      As a community if we want thins to change we have to focus on whats crippling us otherwise the small effects surrounding us wont really matter.

      Hello Kimberly,
      Thanks for your reply. I think I understand what you are saying……and I lay awake worrying
      about things both large and small…..and often want to give up…..I only mentioned the group that turned out at the Domes because I saw it as a sign that there are people out there who want to be heard, when they can be, about even what seems to be a small issue ….. good to hear from you. all my best….
