Candy corn, gummy bear and chocolate. These are candy flavors that many local youth will see in their trick-or-treat bags this year. Unfortunately, they’re also some of the e-cigarette flavors that are seen by teens at convenience stores across Wisconsin.

Our local FACT group knows that these flavored product, including JUUL e-cigarettes, are not as innocent as they seem. FACT is Wisconsin’s youth tobacco prevention movement and we’re spreading the truth that no matter what you call them, JUULs, hookah pens or vape mods, they’re definitely e-cigarettes and they’re not harmless.  E-cigarettes or e-juices can be confusing to youth since they come with flavors like cotton candy, vanilla, chocolate and juice peach.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about e-cigarettes. For example, a lot of our friends and classmates believe that JUUL e-cigarettes don’t contain any nicotine at all. The truth is every JUUL has nicotine. Some JUUL pods contain as much addictive nicotine as a whole pack of cigarettes. We been presenting to our community, school peers, and elected representatives regarding e-cigarettes and how youth are being target with color and flavor. Our FACT group has been creating human billboard to spread the truth about e-cigarettes.

Remember, these seemingly innocent candy flavors could still lure you into addiction. Don’t let yourself get tricked! For more information on the FACT Movement, visit FACTmovement.org.
