A groundbreaking took place Tuesday, April 30 for the MKE Urban Stables. Organizers say it will be the first facility in the nation to combine mounted patrol, equine-assisted therapy and community engagement programs.

The $5.65 million project at 143 E. Lincoln Ave. is expected to open in January 2020 and will serve as the new home for the Milwaukee Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit.
